Jeff Arsenych, B.A., M.B.A. - CEO

Mr. Arsenych is President and CEO and a member of the board of Petro Verde. He brings 30 years experience in the energy industry both in North America and offshore with specific expertise in negotiations, corporate finance, evaluations, and general management. He has negotiated over $500 million of acquisitions, joint ventures, and other transactions in the oil and gas sector. A serial entrepreneur, Jeff has co-founded and built four successful oil and gas start-ups: Neutrino Resources, Bridgetown Energy, Ravenwood Resources and Ravenwood Energy. In 1997, he and business partner David Beckwermert received the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Prairie Division, for their work with Neutrino Resources which they started in 1993 with $200 K of seed capital and sold in 1998 for $83 million total consideration. Mr. Arsenych is also Chairman and co-founder of two alternative energy companies: Kyoto Fuels, a private biofuels company which is completing one of Canada’s largest biodiesel plant in Lethbridge; and Prairie Biogas, a private waste-to-energy company based in Regina. Prior to Petro Verde, he was President/CEO and a director of CTI Resources, a private company involved in developing technologies for heavy oil upgrading and oilfield waste management.

Bob Howard, P.Land. - Vice-President - Land & Acquisitions

Mr. Howard is Vice-President – Land & Acquisitions at Petro Verde. He has over 36 years of industry experience in all facets of the land profession, with a focus on joint venture negotiations and acquisitions.  He is known in the industry as one who seeks a “win-win” transaction, which has garnered him a sterling reputation.  He was a Vice-President – Land at Arsenal Energy Inc., Deep Resources Ltd., and Best Pacific Resources Ltd., where he demonstrated his capability to source opportunities and negotiate deals.  At Arsenal, he was part of the executive team that delivered a 67% production increase to 2,000 barrels-oil-equivalent per day.  During his tenure at Deep Resources, he managed a multiple-well farm-in project covering 144 square miles, which became a major source of company production.  He was able to monetize over $100 million of assets for Best Pacific, which contributed to a doubling of the company’s market value.  In addition to his excellent business acumen, Mr. Howard is accomplished at drafting and analyzing contracts, which forms the basis for the land profession.  Mr. Howard has a Professional Landman designation from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.

Dan Motyka, B.Sc. (M.E.), P.Eng. - Chairman / Acting COO

Mr. Motyka is Chairman of the Board of Petro Verde. He brings 50 years of operations management experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily in executive positions with Gulf Canada. In addition to being vice-president – production for Gulf Canada, Dan was the founding President of KomiArctic Oil, which was Gulf Canada’s joint venture company in Russia. Subsequent to Gulf Canada, Mr. Motyka was chairman of the entity that managed the Canadian Government holdings in Hibernia (offshore Newfoundland). He also founded and was President of Questor, a gas incineration technology company. He is a past President of both APEGGA (accrediting body for engineers and geoscientists in Alberta) and Engineers Canada (non-profit society for Canadian engineering organizations). Prior to Petro Verde, he was Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of CTI Resources, a private company involved in developing technologies for heavy oil upgrading and oilfield waste management.

Brian Hearst, CA - CFO

Mr. Hearst is CFO of Petro Verde.  He has 30 years experience as financial officer and advisor in the energy industry both in North America and internationally. Mr. Hearst has participated in fundraising with several clients totaling $200 million in equity and debt financings. He was CFO of Canacol Energy Ltd. 2009-2011 with Colombia and Brazil operations.  He is also the current audit committee chair of the board of directors of Gold Royalties Corp. which invests in royalties of Canadian metals-producing companies.

John Wearing, B.Sc. (C.E.), P.Eng. - Operations Advisor

Mr. Wearing is a professional engineer with over 30 years experience in oilfield facilities and operations including bitumen, heavy oil, and fire floods. He rose through the ranks of Gulf Canada to become a manager of an oil and gas production unit, and then Vice-President of Operations for Gulf Indonesia. Subsequent to Gulf, he was Vice-President – Operations for Quadrise Canada, an oil sands technology company. Prior to Petro Verde, Mr. Wearing was an executive with an oilfield waste technology operation. In addition to Petro Verde, he is an engineering advisor to an intermediate oil and gas company.

Valentina Rublevsky, B.A. (Econ) - Board Secretary

Ms. Rublevsky has 14 years of experience in corporate administration and governance. She is a former Director of Corporate Services with CTI Resources Corp. where she was responsible for the overall administration and accounting functions of the company. She was also Secretary to the Board of CTI Resources and its international subsidiaries.
